Santa Tracker is Google’s beloved holiday tradition that’s been going strong since 2004. For every day in the month of December, Santa’s Village releases a new game or video, counting down to Christmas. On the 24th, the tracker goes live and you can follow Santa on his journey around the world.
Every year, Santa Tracker garners billions of impressions across the Google ecosystem, through social media, and in the press.
In 2017, I had the opportunity to join the cross-functional team, representing Brand Marketing amongst the leads from DevRel, Android, and Chrome. Our goals that year were to create a new kick-off animated film, build two new education-focused games – Santa’s Canvas (a Santa-fied version of Creative Suite) and Speed Sketch (in partnership with Creative Lab’s Quick, Draw! team) – increase diverse representation across Santa’s village, and build an Android-exclusive game – Santa Snap – that showed off the versatility of MUSK graphics and was built on the Google Maps Unity SDK.
