Program: doodle For Google 2017/18

Doodle for Google is an annual contest open to students in grades K-12 in which students are invited to create their own Google doodle for the chance to have it featured on the Google homepage, as well as win some great scholarships and tech packages for their schools. Google has been hosting this competition since 2008, and has received hundreds of thousands of submissions over the years.

In the 2017/18 year, we launched a revitalized website, created new collateral for teachers and classrooms, and designed an extra-special assembly experience for a semifinalist’s school in Puerto Rico.

As the first Program Manager to touch this beloved, and growing, program, I focused on setting up a management system that would help future Marketers keep the ship afloat and focus more of their energy on creating net-new experiences each year. At the time, the program leaned on over 8 external vendors, plus a bevy of internal volunteer support to keep it running. In my 3 months devoted to the program, I created a spreadsheet playbook that mapped out the 5+ workstreams and the step-by-step actions needed to take to run the program effectively on a September - July annual timeline.
